Recordings, transcripts, and analysis
Every interview is recorded and transcribed automatically. There’s nothing to switch on.
Finding a recording
Section titled “Finding a recording”Click Interviews on the study’s agenda, then click the participant’s name. Their detail panel has a Recording tab.
Right after a call ends the tab reads “The recording is processing and will appear here shortly.” It checks again every minute while you have it open, so there’s no need to refresh. Recordings usually arrive within a few minutes of the call ending and can take up to half an hour, with the transcript following the recording. If nothing has arrived after an hour, the tab says no recording was received for that call.
When an interview was reconnected part-way through, each stretch of the call appears as its own recording under the same booking.
Watching it back
Section titled “Watching it back”Each recording shows the video next to its transcript:
- The transcript follows the video as it plays. Click any line to jump to that moment.
- Search transcript filters the lines to the ones containing your words.
- Summary is written by AI when the transcript arrives. If one is missing, leaders see Generate summary.
- Download transcript saves the transcript as a Word document.
- Recording link creates a link to the video that plays in a browser and is valid for seven days.
The Notes tab holds whatever the interviewer typed during the call. Leaders can keep editing it afterwards.
Reviewers can open all of this but can’t change it.
Exporting everything
Section titled “Exporting everything”Export all, at the top of the Interviews page, downloads one Excel workbook with a row per booking:
- who and when: roster ID, participant, email, location, external ID, date, and status;
- a recording link and a transcript file link;
- the summary, the transcript, and a timestamped version of the transcript.
For recruited participants, their profile characteristics and screener answers are added as extra columns.
Results from the guide
Section titled “Results from the guide”Anything participants submitted in activities during their interviews is in the study’s results, like any session. See Results and analytics.
In an interview study the top bar has Filter by Participant where other sessions have the roster group filter. Pick one or more interviewees to narrow every result to just them.
Report Builder
Section titled “Report Builder”Report Builder on the agenda treats the interviews as the study’s main source. On the setup form:
- Include interviews lists every interview that has a transcript. All are included by default, each with its transcript and any interviewer notes. Untick any you want left out.
- Identify interviewees by name is off by default, so quotes are attributed to “Interview 3” and nobody is named. Turn it on when the report should say who said what.
Everything else works as described in AI deliverables and exports.
Session Assistant
Section titled “Session Assistant”The Session Assistant can read interview transcripts and interviewer notes when a question calls for them. Ask it things like “What did interviewees say about onboarding?” or “Which objections came up more than once?” and it pulls the relevant interviews, alongside any activity results.
Because your team knows who it interviewed, the assistant refers to interviewees by name in an interview study.
